ELYRIA, Ohio–(BUSINESS WIRE)–March 11, 2005–As Invacare (NYSE:IVC) continues to expand its educational offerings for rehab technology suppliers, the company is proud to announce that six of its Business Development Managers (BDM) now are certified Assistive Technology Suppliers (ATS(TM)). This certification differentiates those who are involved in the rehab industry, and it sets special standards for those who interface with rehab products.
“Invacare’s Business Development Managers are very involved in the rehab field and we wanted them to achieve a level of certification that enables them to offer additional education programs to our providers and clinicians,” said Tim Havel, director of clinical education and development at Invacare. “Invacare recently announced its 2005 Invacare(R) LEEP (Learning Enrichment Education Program) list of rehab education courses. Now that our BDMs have an ATS certification, we hope to enhance this year’s offerings even further.”
The ATS credential is owned and certified by the Rehabilitation Engineering & Assistive Technology Society of North America (RESNA). The certification exam tests the individual’s comprehensive knowledge and application within the Assistive Technology field. ATS certified professionals agree to practice within the scope of their knowledge and to abide by a code of ethical behavior.
“Invacare supports the industry movement towards certification in the rehab field,” said Havel. “It is important that consumers understand they are working with individuals who have met established competencies and are educated and caring suppliers.”
