Monaghan was appointed the Company’s President and Chief Executive Officer effective April 1, 2015 and was named Chairman of the Board on May 14, 2015. He was previously the Senior Vice President, Global Hips and Reconstructive Research of Zimmer Holdings, Inc., a global company that designs, develops, manufactures and markets orthopedic reconstructive, spinal and trauma devices, dental implants, and related surgical products. Prior to joining Zimmer in 2009, Monaghan spent eight years as an operating executive for two leading private equity firms, Texas Pacific Group (TPG) and Cerberus Capital Management, where he led acquisitions and operational improvements of portfolio companies, which included the carve-out from Baxter Healthcare of a global medical device business, making significant improvements at a U.S. personal insurance business and running a consumer durable goods business spun off from Newell-Rubber-maid.
He spent the first 13 years of his career in aerospace, medical and other industrial businesses of General Electric Company. Monaghan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University, a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from MIT and an MBA from INSEAD in France.
Senior Vice President and Chief Information Technology Officer
Angela Goodwin
Goodwin has served as Chief Information Technology Officer since March 2019. Prior to joining Invacare, Goodwin served as CIO for Fresenius Kabi, a global healthcare company specializing in pharmaceutical and technological innovations for critically and chronically ill patients from 2012 to 2018. Prior to that, she was CIO of Fenwal, Inc., a global blood technology company supporting transfusion and cell therapies from 2009 to 2012. She has over 30 years of global IT leadership experience. Goodwin holds a Master of Science degree in Strategic International Business Management from the University of Salford in Manchester, UK.
Senior Vice President, General Counsel, CAO and Secretary
Anthony C. LaPlaca
LaPlaca is responsible for all legal affairs of the company and handles corporate governance matters, serving as the corporate secretary. In addition, he oversees corporate communications, data privacy, corporate compliance, and intellectual property. Before joining Invacare, LaPlaca was vice president and general counsel of Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems, a member of the Knorr-Bremse Group from 2002 to 2008. Prior to that he served as vice president and general counsel of Honeywell Transportation & Power Systems. Prior to joining Honeywell’s predecessor, AlliedSignal Inc. in 1997, LaPlaca practiced law at a Cleveland-based national law firm for 13 years, the last 3 years of which serving as a partner in the firm. He holds a B.S. in economics from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and a J.D. from Boston University School of Law.
Kathy Leneghan was appointed Chief Financial Officer on February 22, 2018, after having served as interim CFO since November 27, 2017. Prior to that, Leneghan served as vice president and corporate controller since 2003. She has been with Invacare for 27 years, serving in various financial roles in North America and Europe. Prior to joining Invacare, Leneghan was an audit manager with Ernst & Young LLP. She holds a B.A. in accounting from Notre Dame College of Ohio.
Joost Beltman was appointed Senior Vice President and General Manager, North America in August 2020. Previously he served as Vice President Sales and Marketing North America of the company since 2018. Prior to that, Beltman was the Managing Director for the BENELUX region and Italy of the company. Prior to joining the company in 2008, Beltman held several management positions of increasing responsibility with providers in the telecommunications industry. Beltman has a degree in Organization & Management Sciences from the University of Amsterdam.
Senior Vice President and General Manager, EMEA & Asia-Pacific
Geoffrey Purtill
Geoff Purtill is responsible for the performance of the Company’s European and Asia Pacific businesses and leads the Global Strategy efforts. Prior to this position, Geoff was responsible for the Asia Pacific segment of the business and over the last 11 years has created a strong and collaborative leadership culture within the region. Geoff joined Invacare in 2010, and prior to that had various leadership roles in sales, category management and supply chain roles at Johnson & Johnson. Geoff was in the Australian Army for 14 years, where he started as an Electronics Technician and left as a Captain in the Intelligence Corps. Geoff graduated with an MBA (Exec) from the Australian Graduated School of Management in 2003.
Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer
Rick A. Cassiday
Cassiday was appointed Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer of the company in June 2021. He is responsible for leading the human capital strategy globally at the company to ensure the business achieves its goals. Prior to joining Invacare, Cassiday served for more than 5 years as Corporate Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer for Guardian Industries, a global leader in architectural glass manufacturing. For the first 26 years of his career, Cassiday held various roles of increasing responsibility in global Human Resources at The Dow Chemical Company. He holds a BA from Spring Arbor University and professional certifications in Labor Relations Management from the University of Wisconsin and Electronic Engineering Technology from the National Institute of Technology.
