Invacare Corporation Appoints New Vice President of Business Development and General Counsel

ELYRIA, Ohio–(BUSINESS WIRE)–July 13, 2005–Invacare Corporation (NYSE:IVC) today announced that Dale LaPorte, partner at Calfee, Halter & Griswold LLP, is joining the company as senior vice president of business development and general counsel. He will report directly to A. Malachi Mixon, III, chairman and chief executive officer.

LaPorte will be responsible for all legal affairs, risk management, mergers and acquisitions, and regulatory affairs at Invacare. He also will serve as the corporate secretary.

LaPorte has been a partner at Calfee, Halter & Griswold LLP since 1974 and served as chairman of that firm from 2000 through 2004. His areas of expertise include federal securities law, mergers and acquisitions and corporate governance. LaPorte is a past chairman of the Section of Corporation, Business and Banking Law of the Cleveland Bar Association. He also is very involved in activities in the Greater Cleveland community, including having served as a member of the board of directors of Cleveland Tomorrow and as chairman of the Dean’s Advisory Committee at Case Western Reserve University School of Law.
