Invacare Introduces ‘Outcomes by Design’ Program for Post-Acute Care Facilities

ELYRIA, Ohio–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Invacare (NYSE: IVC) (”Invacare” or the ”company”) today announced the introduction of Invacare Outcomes by Design™, a suite of programs designed to assist post-acute care facilities in improving clinical, financial and patient satisfaction outcomes.

”Achieving measurable results is increasingly important, and Invacare partnered with leading industry experts to implement effective and comprehensive modules that a post-acute care facility can customize based on their needs,” said Ed Armstrong, vice president of post-acute care product and channel marketing. ”From training and education options to on-site support, Invacare’s Outcomes by Design was built to be progressive and flexible while providing measurable outcomes that will directly impact a facility’s performance.”

Outcomes by Design currently consists of three modules – Safe Patient Handling, Pressure Management and Facility Design – high-priority challenges faced by post-acute care clinicians and administrators, based on input Invacare received from these groups. The company plans to introduce additional modules based on customer needs.

Matthew E. Monaghan, chairman, president and chief executive officer, said, ”The introduction of our Outcomes by Design program is an example of how we are reigniting our innovation engine to help our customers and grow our business in new and interesting ways. By integrating several of our most critical offerings for the post-acute care market, we are elevating the value we can provide to customers in this growing market segment.”

The three modules are:

  • Safe Patient Handling: This program helps facilities minimize resident falls, implement a comprehensive safe patient handling program, and conduct in-service training on proper use of lifts and slings. The safe patient handling program has already been implemented in several long-term care facilities and has proven to reduce costs related to employee injuries caused by lifting, transferring and repositioning residents.
  • Pressure Management: Invacare offers a facility-specific series of education, training and equipment audits to assist staff in delivering proper care for prevention and management of injuries, enabling staff to achieve a facility’s wound care goals and improve quality measures.
  • Facility Design: With a long, distinguished history in post-acute care, Invacare’s design team can help differentiate a facility to attract new residents, improve employee morale, and boost satisfaction among current residents and their families through a safe, comfortable environment.
