ELYRIA, Ohio–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Invacare (NYSE: IVC) announced today that three members of its Board of Directors have been named to WomenInc. Magazine’s list of 2019 Most Influential Corporate Directors. The list, featuring Susan H. Alexander, Petra Danielsohn-Weil, and Diana S. Ferguson, will appear in the magazine’s Winter 2019 issue. The list is widely recognized as the most comprehensive directory of female executives, influencers and achievers contributing to corporate boards.
“We are grateful to have such talented and dedicated women on our Board and appreciate their continued contributions to Invacare’s success,” said Matthew E. Monaghan, chairman, president, and chief executive officer. “I’d like to congratulate all three of them for this well-deserved recognition.”
Ms. Alexander has been a Director since 2016 and currently serves as executive vice president, chief legal officer and secretary of Biogen Inc., a global biotechnology company. Her extensive background with public bio- and med-tech companies, along with her legal and regulatory experience, have made her an outstanding asset to the Board of Directors.
Ms. Danielsohn-Weil, PhD, has been a Director since 2018, and was most recently the regional president for Pfizer Essential Health – Europe, a leader in non-viral anti-infectives, biosimilars and sterile injectable medicines, where she served until her retirement in 2017. Her wealth of experience and unique background in emerging markets in the European biotech space have been invaluable as Invacare has grown within the European market.
Ms. Ferguson has been a Director since 2018, and currently serves as chief financial officer for Cleveland Avenue, LLC, a privately held venture capital firm which accelerates and strategically invests in innovative restaurant, food and beverage concepts and emerging brands. Her more than 30 years of finance experience in the manufacturing, financial and consumer industries, along with her work in the public sector, have made her a great resource for Invacare.
Four of Invacare’s nine Directors are women, with Julie A. Beck having joined in September. Ms. Beck serves as senior vice president and chief financial officer of NOVA Chemicals Corporation. “We are proud to be an industry leader with 50 percent of our independent Board seats filled by women – and are steadfast in continuing to attract diverse talent at all levels of our organization,” Monaghan added. “Our organization benefits from the diversity in talent, experiences and personal characteristics, all of which make us better positioned to support our customers.”
“It is essential that the achievements and success of professional women are showcased in the highest regard and their stories are told in meaningful ways. WomenInc. is proud to recognize this distinguished group of women serving on public boards,” said Catrina Young, Executive Vice President and Chief Communications Officer of WomenInc. “We are inspired by these accomplished executives, their distinguished careers and the corporations that demonstrate inclusive board composition. We offer congratulations and appreciation to the directors recognized in WomenInc.’s Most Influential Corporate Directors edition for their leadership.”
